Celebrating Geography and Map-making in Historic Science Hall

Science Hall

Description

Visit Science Hall (c. 1888) to meet staff and students from Geography, the State Cartographer’s Office, and the WI Geological and Natural History Survey. The History of Cartography Project will display antique maps while the Cartography Lab showcases innovative map design. Wander our beautiful Robinson Map Library to find a map or air photo of a favorite site in WI or beyond! Explore the Geomorphology and Paleovegetation Labs. Check out student projects and join in map games.

This event is part of the 2024 Science Expeditions. Science Expeditions is an annual public event that invites the community to interact with researchers, visit science venues, participate in interactive exploration stations, and more. This year’s Science Expeditions, which takes places during UW–Madison’s 175th anniversary, is co-hosted with the 175th community open house.
